Great work.

This is a pretty cool song. Different and sort of ambient, but with a good melody. However, I reckon there is a little too much distortion.

As much as I like this, I don't think it is bad-arse enough for a boss level. Definitely good enough to get a spot in Symphonic Tower Defense and its contest, though.

Keep it up!

I'm already working on a re-mastering to sort of soften the hard parts. Sadly I'm no audio technician, so It's maybe not going to turn out better than this mix, haha. I'm glad you like it, and took the time to review it! What a fun contest to take part of.

Great work

The piano is fantastic. What also makes this song is your good melody. This would be great with vocals.

One thing though, regarding eq'ing, like most Newgrounds music, the bass isn't thick enough. You could probably fix this by applying Parametric EQ 2 (assuming you're using FL Studio), and pump up the bass a bit, as well as tweaking the other freq.

lantaren responds:

the bass isn't up high enough? damn you, shitty while still amazing at the same time bassboosting headphones from pioneer! raagh!

on a serious not though, I would tend to agree with you. this was in fact not made to be a bass-heavy song, but I feel what you meen now that I took of my headphones XD I really got to remember that it isn't the amazing quality that it is on my computer.... yeah..

also, I do have vocals. I am preparing to record them soon, but I need to get all of them written first.

great review! btw I do use Fl studio.. how could you tell? or is that ust an assumption made on NG nowadays?

gonna update this pretty soon though, so if you wanna check that one out, it will have more bass.

Fantastic

It's like the guitar version of Kenny G lol. Seriously though, fantastic work. From a compositional point of view, this, to me, is industry standard. The sound/mastering is good too, but it just sounds that small step off from modern industry standard (mastering one of my weak points too).

This song is really emotional and nice, without the need of vocals. The guitar playing is very powerful in the way you played it. The bass is fantastic too, along with everything else. The part where it goes funky goes so well with it too.

This would have to be my favourite submission I have heard on Newgrounds so far.

Thanks :)
The bass at the moment is made with Kontakt but after I will get a real bass player to record (and maybe a real drummer... we'll see if possible) I will mix and master again, hopefully with better results.

Not too great

Well, first off, I rarely like ambient music. Most ambient songs have no, or extreme lack of, melody. This song is exactly that.

Not trying to sound pretentious, but this is more noise than music. The drum beat is kind of cool, but very busy and doesn't match the pads you've got going. The pads sound boring (referring to the notation, not the synth sound).

Basically, you've gotta work on melodies. Music is melody, harmony and rhythm. This piece is just rhythm (drum beat) and harmony (your pads). The most important part, the melody, is missing.

Work on melodies, then you'll notice improvement. I don't know if you play an instrument or not, but if you haven't, learning scales will help you write melodies. You can learn scales by googling. That's the first step for any musician.

I actually play acoustic guitar and I do know all the chords and I know the basic structure of the blues scale and the indian scale.

Pretty good

When it got into it, it was pretty cool. Very cool. The vocal part was actually kinda cool too, and it broke into the main part well. Tell you what though, the piano melody was boring as shit. But I see from your comments that your keyboard broke, so you're probably aware of that.

The last note, the low one, would sound way better if it was E instead of C. And the chord played before that sounds like it is C and E. B and E would make a better chord.

Quarl responds:

"WIP" means work for me. I'll play with it some. I'm actually really glad you thought the piano was boring. I'll go back and fix it some before the 8th.

Funky!

Awesome work! A few times through out the song were a few parts that sounded a bit out of tune. And I like how the guitar sounds more rocky with those killer guitar solos! Nice work!

Metaljonus responds:

Thanks man, yeah my guitar needs to go to the shop here in the next week.

Nice

Love it all. The strings are excellent to go along with the piano. Nice work!

Quarl responds:

Thanks sir :)

Sweet

Really radical sound effects man! Done perfectly... Not much else I can say.

Karco responds:

Thanks!

Awesome

Love the work on the drums (even though they're programmed but hey, I do that too - I can't afford a drumkit). Awesome synth tune to go with it too. Just one thing, too repetitive because it is WAY too long. Overall, siiiiiiiiiick!

Karco responds:

Trance tracks are typically this length - and if you think this is long, check out my Paradise on E remix. :D

Thanks for the review!

Deep

This seriously does sound like I'm in an abyss... this would be great in a scary game because just the song is kinda scary - with the visual effects, it would be a perfect match!

Karco responds:

That was the point of this track. :D Looks like I was spot-on.

Thanks for the review!
